Pregnant Jinx needed our help when her owner could no longer care for her. So that the affectionate young cat could enjoy becoming a new mum in peace and quiet, we moved Jinx into a foster home with one of our experienced fostering volunteers.

Just days later, she gave birth to five healthy ginger kittens. Thanks to the generous donations of supporters, Blue Cross was able to care for the whole feline family until the kittens were old enough to find loving new homes of their own.

Last year, seven-year-old Florence Hayman decided to forgo gifts to raise money for Blue Cross after recently losing her two pet rabbits Honey and Ginger.

Florence, who attends Oaksey Primary School, helped her mum to organise a birthday bazaar event with different stalls at the village hall in Somerford Keynes instead of having a traditional party.

Florence’s mum, Jane Hayman, said: “Florence is very passionate about animals and it didn’t bother her at all that she wouldn’t be receiving any birthday presents.

“She also recently lost her two pet rabbits so asked what she could do to help pets who are in need.

“She had so much fun on the day of the bazaar with all her friends and family around her and at the same time raised £400 for such a worthy cause.”
