Blue Cross mobile clinic

Mobile clinic

In March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic meant that we had to close our mobile clinic until further notice. We have now taken the decision to permanently shut this service.

Why are we closing the mobile clinic?

Although Covid-19 brought about specific challenges, our animal hospitals also adapted to different ways of working. Many of our vet consultations took place remotely over the phone or by video call so that pets were still able to get the care they needed, and only had to come to one of our animal hospitals if a physical examination was necessary.

Unfortunately, our mobile clinic vans are also not ultra low emission zone (ULEZ) vehicles and are no longer fit for purpose. By closing the mobile clinic we’ll use our donations from the public to support our busy hospital teams and frontline staff.

How will pets and people carry on getting vet care?

We’ll carry on supporting those eligible for vet care remotely where appropriate, so that pets and owners will not have to travel if they do not need to, and invite the pets that need to be seen to one of our animal hospitals. Not only will remote consults be less stressful for pets who might not be used to travelling, but it will free up more time for our vet teams to provide treatment and advice.

If you are eligible for our vet care but cannot travel to one of our animal hospitals in person, we’ll be able to talk about your options when you call us.

To find out whether you’re eligible for our vet care visit our veterinary webpages. You’ll be able to see whether you’re eligible, register with your nearest animal hospital and contact the team.
