A pony rescued from a life of misery in a back garden is looking for a new home after making a remarkable turnaround in Blue Cross care.
Five-year-old Magic is unrecognisable from the nervous, worm-riddled pony that arrived at our Burford rehoming centre nearly 18 months ago.
Up until the RSPCA seized him from his previous owner’s garden along with another pony, Magic had never been handled and was scared of people as a result.
But our dedicated team have worked hard to build up the part bred New Forest pony’s trust and he is now a friendly, sociable boy who even enjoys being ridden.
And he is now needs an owner who he can continue his education with.
Laura Pearce, Horse Rehoming Coordinator at Buford, said: “Since being in Blue Cross care Magic has come a long way. When he arrived he was very nervous of people and it took us a long time to build up his trust.
“Once he was more confident he went to one of our foster homes where they continued with his handling and did lots of ground work to prepare him for being backed.
“When he returned to the centre, he was backed by one of the riding grooms. He now enjoys human company and really seems to enjoy his work.”
After further training, Laura said Magic will one day make a brilliant all-riding pony.
Due to his age, he is looking for a small adult experienced in riding.
