Volunteer with pets

How you can help

Our rehoming and veterinary services help 35,000 pets each year, and we couldn’t do this without the support of our dedicated volunteers.

There are lots of ways that you can directly help the pets we care for including:

  • Volunteer walking dog Eva at Lewknor rehoming centre
cleaning kennels, walking dogs and socialising cats, kittens, puppies, and small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs
  • grooming and feeding horses and ponies and mucking out their stables
  • fostering pets for a short while in your own home while they recover from illness, or until they are old enough to be rehomed
  • helping our pets find homes more quickly by taking photos and videos of them for our website and helping with our social media pages
  • driving pets to the vet, or between our centres and hospitals

In our centres and hospitals volunteers also help by:

  • helping to keep our hospital clinics clean and the equipment sterilised
  • meeting and greeting customers, dealing with their enquiries, and giving them the information they need to rehome pets
  • helping out with projects, admin, gardening, DIY and much more
  • helping to organise and run community events to raise awareness of our services so we can help pets into new homes more quickly
  • giving talks to local community groups about our history and the services we offer today
