How to make dog-friendly pancakes

Whether it’s Pancake Day or you simply want to give your dog something special, our vet-approved, dog-friendly pancake recipe means that they can join in with one of our all-time favourite treats!

Ingredients

• 1 medium egg
• 180ml buttermilk
• 2 tablespoons peanut butter (with no xylitol)
• 64g buckwheat flour
• 2 tablespoons quick-cook polenta
• ½ teaspoon baking powder
• 2-3 tablespoons water
• Coconut oil

Peanut butter drizzle ingredients

• 2 tablespoons peanut butter (with no xylitol)
• 1 tablespoon warm water
• Strawberries with the stalks removed (optional)

Utensils

• Medium mixing bowl
• Measuring jug
• Weighing scales
• Tablespoon and teaspoon
• Frying pan
• Ladle
• Bone shaped cookie cutter (optional)

How to make your dog-friendly pancakes

1. Mix the egg, buckwheat flour, polenta and baking powder together in a mixing bowl until you get a thick batter. Add water if needed.
2. Let the batter stand for 10 minutes
3. Heat your frying pan on a medium heat with a little splash of coconut oil
4. Add a ladle of batter to the frying pan and cook for around two minutes, before flipping your pancake and cooking for a further one minute on the other side
5. Pop the pancake on a plate and use your bone cookie cutter to create fun bone shaped pancakes
6. Next up is the peanut butter drizzle – mix two tablespoons of peanut butter with one tablespoon of warm water until it’s a nice smooth, runny texture
7. Drizzle your peanut butter sauce over your dog’s pancakes and add some fresh strawberries with the stalks removed
