About me

Hello, Barry here, pleased to meet you. I am a BIG Greyhound, very long legs, long body, long tail…long all round really. I am an ex-racer, so have lived most my life in kennels, I must say that adjusting to a new life of living in a home and around you humans has caused some issues for me. It’s a big adjustment and I have needed (and will continue to need) a lot of help, support and training so I learn what is appropriate in a home – who knew eating sandwiches off the worktop and table wasn’t acceptable??… It was news to me!

I like people generally and once I have built a bond with you I can be quiet affectionate. I do need new people to make some effort in getting to know me and also need people to be respectful around me and my space – I’m not used to sharing it see, I can find people being over friendly or to hands on unsettling, it can make me a bit cranky.

I need space – I am a big dog who likes to lie flat out, so I have big raised beds to settle on. I don’t want to be disturbed when I’m resting (like a lot of dogs) so I need a home with enough space for me and my beds to have quiet areas to rest, and with owners who understand my needs and read my body language well and want to carry on my training.

I’m a pleasure to walk, friendly with dogs that come along to say hi. As an ex-racer I have a high predatory drive – and can get excited when I see cats and wildlife – so I wear a muzzle happily (like most ex-racers) and will be rehomed as an on lead dog. I’m currently living in a Foster home, they are following my training, Im doing really well and they are really enjoying having me to stay.

I am looking for a home as an only pet and with adults only. There is much more to tell you but if you like the sound of me (I am rather wonderful) then please get in touch, bye for now Barry x
