Hello, I’m Mabel.
I have come from a home where there quite a few other cats that I had to share my space with and unfortunately I have lived quite a sheltered life.
Because I have grown up in a rather sheltered environment I can find new situations and meeting new people quite a challenge. However once I am settled in and have gotten to know you I am quite a character, as my foster mum has discovered!
I am an independent girl who likes my own space but over time I have formed quite a bond with my foster mum as she has been very patient with me and given me all the space and time I need. I like sharing my toy with her now so we can have a play together and although I am still wary of hands I really enjoy short grooming sessions with a soft brush. However what I really love is to creep up onto the sofa with her in the evenings so I can lay with her and enjoy a bit of telly. Although I’m not keen on lots of hands-on contact I do really enjoy one-on-one closeness with somebody and having some company. I’m just a very sensitive lady who takes time to make friends with someone.
I am looking for a quieter home with very patient and understanding owners who will give me all the time I need to settle in and respect my need for space. I am looking for a home as the only pet (no cats or dogs) but am happy to meet older children here at the Centre to see if we would be a good match for each-other. I have previously been kept indoors, I may always be more of an indoor cat and not choose to spend much if any time outside even if given the opportunity.
