About me

Companion

Hi my name is Taz and I have recently returned to Burford and am now looking for a new home to call my own.

I have been owned by Blue Cross for a while now and been out in home but have recently returned as my borrowers were struggling to keep my weight down, I am now looking for a home with very little grass and maybe a hard standing area for me to go on to help with my weight. Unfortunately I look at a blade of grass and put on 10lbs!

I am very sweet to handle on the ground but sometimes when I get hungry I will try and drag you to the nearest bit of grass, I don't go anywhere fast but I am strong.

I can sometimes be resource dominant around food this is towards other horses and not people, I happily live in a field with others but if there is feed around I am best placed elsewhere or I will try and gobble up everyone's food.

In the spring/summer I get very itchy the grooms at Burford tell me I am allergic to midge bites so have something called sweetitch, this is managed by wearing a boet rug so they cant get to me and bite me.

I am good for the farrier and vet, and really enjoy lots of fuss and attention, being a companion I can sometimes get forgotten and this makes me sad.

If you are interested in rehoming me or any other Blue Cross horse/pony, then please click on the “Rehome me!” link. The Blue Cross holds up to 100 horses and ponies at any one time. Even if Taz is not available please be assured we are still actively trying to find you a suitable match for your needs and we will be in contact as soon as we do.

How rehoming works

  1. Browse our pets, find your favourite

Read the pet’s profile to make sure that they are suitable for your circumstances.

  2. Change the online application form

We want to be fair to everyone who applies for a pet so applications are dealt with in the order that we receive them.

  3. We process your application

Please be patient while we process your application. If you are successful we will contact you to go through next steps.

Thanks for reading my story…

I'd like to say I have a lot to give to my new owner and that I think I deserve a warm and loving home. Can you help me out? I think Blue Cross would be much appreciative!
