Pull your socks up, Chaos!

A greedy labrador has been asked to pull his socks up over his taste for clothing.

Dog Chaos needed surgery to remove the sock, which had become stuck in his gut.

When he started vomiting and didn’t stop, his owners feared the worst and brought him straight to our Grimsby animal hospital.

Chaos needed help fast, so we took bloods and placed him on a drip so we could make sure he was getting the fluids he needed. Our vets needed to examine Chaos thoroughly so we sedated him.

Tracy Lang, a Veterinary Nurse at our Grimsby animal hospital, said: “Our vet thought he could feel a foreign body so we X-rayed Chaos to discover more. He needed surgery to remove the blockage.”

When we opened Chaos up we found he had swallowed a sock. Unfortunately he also had some damage to his gut, which had to be removed.

Tracy added: “Chaos was a very poorly lad and had to have intensive nursing. We gave him antibiotics to prevent any infection, and pain relief. We also gave him medicine to stop him feeling queasy.”

The young lad was very weak after his ordeal and needed to stay at our hospital for a couple of days so we could keep a close eye on him and check he was recovering well.

Thankfully, he was soon well enough to go back home, where his loving owners are keeping him out of mischief.
