Missy sadly lost one eye

A six-year-old long-haired Chihuahua found injured and afraid has made a full recovery and found a happy home.

Missy was found in Grimsby with painful injuries to her eye, lacerations to her ears, a fractured rib, matted fur and overgrown claws.

She was taken to the Blue Cross animal hospital in the town and our vets thought she may have been hit by a car.

Sadly, her left eye was prolapsed and very painful so it needed to be removed. Missy was then cared for at the hospital for several days until she had fully recovered.

Unable to trace the owner registered on her microchip, Missy was taken to our rehoming centre in Thirsk, Yorkshire, to start her journey of finding a loving new home.

She was placed into foster care with Jenny Day, Blue Cross Volunteer Co-ordinator and Animal Welfare Assistant, where she joined her Chihuahuas Freddi and Lily and foster kitten Raven.

Jenny said: “It was a pleasure to have Missy in my care while we searched for the perfect new home after her ordeal.

"She enjoyed having the company of my two dogs and her foster kitten playmate. We are delighted that she is in safe hands now in a loving home of her own.”
