New start for pony abandoned at the fair like litter

Horse Petal from Rolleston rehoming centre

A neglected young pony found abandoned at Appleby Horse Fair is looking forward to a happy, healthy future after learning to trust people at Blue Cross.

Native pony Petal was in a terrible state when she arrived at our rehoming centre in Rolleston and, although she was pregnant, sadly her foal died soon after being born.

Understandably, she was very nervous in the beginning but, after receiving extensive training at the centre, her confidence and faith in humans began to grow.

Although she’s still apprehensive, the three-year-old chestnut mare made wonderful progress and, when she was ready, we began to look for a suitable home for her.

Petal has now found a loving, experienced home where she can continue her training and we think this sweet pony has a fabulous future ahead of her.
