Am I eligible?
Low cost, Blue Cross vet care is for pets, and pet owners, who are most in need. So to be eligible, you’ll need to receive one of the following means-tested benefits:
- pension credit
- housing benefit
- income support
- working tax credit (not child tax credit)
- council tax benefit (not 25 per cent single person discount)
- income-based jobseeker’s allowance
- income based employment and support allowance
- universal credit
You’ll also need to register with the clinic and live within one of the following postcodes:
How many pets can I register?
Normally you’ll be able to register up to two pets per household, including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and small birds such as budgies, but in the first few months this may be limited to one pet. This is because we want to help as many people and their pets as we can and we’ll confirm this with you closer to the time our clinic opens.
What will it cost?
When you register, you’ll pay an annual registration fee of £22 for each pet. This will cover the cost of annual *vaccinations, a health check, microchipping and any treatment needed if your pet becomes sick or injured. There are also reduced-cost preventive treatments and affordable charges for out-of-hours services, so your pet always has access to the help it needs.
Because we’re a charity, and we rely on the generosity of supporters to keep going, we ask that you make a contribution towards your pet’s care every time you visit the clinic.
* Primary and booster vaccinations only, kennel cough is not included.
