Tour De Blue Cross is a virtual cycling challenge brought to you by Blue Cross. The challenge is to cycle 302 miles over the month of September. The distance from our Victoria Animal Hospital in London to our Rehoming Centre in Thirsk with a few virtual stop offs on the way!

This challenge can be completed from anywhere either on the road, in the gym or at home on a static bike.

Once the distance is completed, and you’ve logged all your miles, at the end of the event you’ll receive a digital certificate for all your brilliant efforts. If you fundraise £100 or more, you’ll also receive a limited edition Tour De Blue Cross medal!

As an extra reward - our top 5 individual fundraisers will also receive their very own Blue Cross cycling jersey.

A virtual event is an event that can be completed from a location of your choice, at your own pace and at any time of day you choose. You track your progress using either a fitness app like Strava, static bike screen or even a good old map! You will log these distances to your Enthuse fundraising page. Once the distance is completed, and you’ve logged all your miles, at the end of the event you’ll receive a digital certificate for all your brilliant efforts. If you fundraise £100 or more, you’ll also receive a limited edition Tour De Blue Cross medal!

The challenge runs from 1 September to 30 September – you can complete your 302 miles at any point during this time. This is a tough challenge and it is advised to split the distance into multiple sessions.

Your fundraising goes towards the vital work we do supporting sick, injured and homeless pets. This includes our rehoming, veterinary, education, behaviour and pet bereavement support services. Find out more about our services.

Without funds raised from events like this we wouldn’t be able to help the poorly and homeless pets that need us.

Registrations for this event closes 31 August 2021.

We have a limited number of entries and medals up for grabs so registration will stay open until we sell out. We would advise signing up as early as possible to guarantee your entry.

Yes, as long as you are able to maintain social distancing and follow the government guidelines applicable at the time of the event. You can purchase multiple entries when registering. During the registration process there is an option to ‘create’ a team and send invites to your friends and family to sign up too. Or, if you want to join an existing team you can use the ‘find’ button during the registration process – please note you will need to know the teams name or team captains name to find a team.

This event is for ages 16 and over only. This event is a challenging distance so we recommend this for those 16 years and older only. We’d recommend breaking down the challenge into multiple sessions and that you plan safe routes and adhere to the highway and countryside codes and current government Coronavirus guidelines.

To earn your limited edition Tour De Blue Cross medal there is a minimum fundraising target of £100. However, all completing participants that have raised between £0.00 and £99.00 will receive a digital certificate for their efforts.

We are very grateful to our wonderful supporters that take that one step further and raise vital funds for Blue Cross through sponsorship. Getting sponsored for your challenge really makes a difference and will help us support even more sick, injured ad homeless pets.

As a bonus – the top 5 individual fundraisers will receive their very own Blue Cross cycling jersey.

A fundraising page is set up for you during the registration process. Even if you don’t plan to fundraise, you will need this page to log your sessions to earn your certificate.

Yes. Donations are very welcome if you are unable to fundraise. You can do this by self- donating to your fundraising page.

You can take on your challenge outdoors, indoors or both. Whatever suits you best! For example, you could go to the gym and pedal it out on the static bike, put some miles in at a spinning class, jump on your static bike at home if you have one, explore your local area on your road bike or take it off road at various cycle friendly locations like active forests. The choice is yours! Please stay safe and dress appropriately for the weather if you are outdoors.

No. This is a tough distance and would most likely be a risk to your health to do the miles all in one go. Break the distance down over multiple sessions. This is your tour, your way. Plan around your free time and if going outdoors - plan safe routes adhering to the highway and countryside codes and current government guidelines.

Yes, once your challenge is complete and you have logged all your miles, all completing participants will receive a digital certificate once the challenge has closed at the end of September.
