About the conference

A one-day conference focussing on the future of animal welfare legislation in the UK with discussions relating to the enforcement of current animal welfare legislation, the changes under consideration by Defra based on the recent consultation, and the potential impact they may have for local authorities, charities and other enforcers.

Speakers from charities, local authorities, legislators and enforcement agencies will discuss current animal welfare legislation and licensing, and their hopes for the future.

Topics covered will include

  • Current legislation regarding breeding and sale of pets
  • Enforcement in practice: licensing of breeding and sale of pets and use of the Animal Welfare Act 2006
  • Alternative models of enforcement
  • What role can the third sector play?

This as a timely opportunity to bring together the animal welfare community to discuss how we can work collaboratively to improve the lives of pets. We hope you will be able to join us on 30 November for what promises to be an informative day.
