Blue Cross Exeter launches pet food bank
Blue Cross rehoming, advice and behaviour unit on Pynes Hill, Exeter has launched a new pet food bank for pet owners in need.
The charity has already been helping numerous families, some reduced to tears when help has been offered to feed their pets, a much-loved member of their families.
Asha Rowlinson, Animal Welfare Assistant at Blue Cross in Exeter said: “We’ve decided to set up a pet food bank service in Exeter as it’s become apparent to us that many people are struggling to afford to pay for their pets’ food.
“We all know that the cost of living is rising and therefore we wanted to step in to help pets in a way we haven’t done before in the Exeter area.
“The service operates a two-hour collection slot twice a month where people can come and collect food for their cats, dogs and small animals from a friendly face in a judgement free environment.”
The food bank is not means tested and is open to anyone who may need it. If you would like to access the service, please email [email protected] and the team will respond to your enquiry.
The charity also runs pet food banks in Grimsby, Sheffield and Manchester with more due to open.
