From April 2008, The Blue Cross equine centre at Northiam becomes a dedicated sanctuary for permanently retired Blue Cross horses.

The Northiam centre will cater mainly for retired horses that are not suitable for rehoming because they are very elderly or have medical conditions that require special care. It will also be home to a small number of youngsters before they are ready to be transferred to one of the other centres for training and rehoming.

The land that the Northiam equine centre is based on was donated to The Blue Cross by a local lady called Kitty Comport in 1951. The centre now has 38 acres of land including some woodland with on-site stabling, field shelters and an all-weather arena. It has a capacity for 30 horses and ponies. Our new walkways, for visitors to view our residents are open at the times below.
