Blue Cross sad to hear of Brian Sewell's death

Blue Cross is sad to hear of the death of animal lover and art critic Brian Sewell.

Mr Sewell was a huge advocate for animal welfare and had supported our work finding homes for unwanted and abandoned pets for a long time.

He rehomed numerous rescue dogs during his lifetime and was a particular fan of crossbreeds.

In 2013, he published Sleeping with Dogs, a book celebrating a lifetime of canine friends.

In it, he wrote: “Dogs are utterly unselfish and will give their little souls to you if that is what you want, responding to your foulest mood by minding their own business, asking nothing more of you than food and water, a daily walk or two and physical gestures of affection.”

Sally de la Bedoyere, Blue Cross Chief Executive, said: “We were very sad to hear of the passing of Brian Sewell, who had supported our charity for over 11 years.

“We are so grateful for his generosity, which has helped to give pets, including dogs, happier and healthier futures.”
