Find out more about the Blue Cross Responsible Dog Ownership Course (RDOC) and how to book if you have been asked to take part, or referred by the Police.

What is the RDOC?

The RDOC is suitable for dog owners over 18 years and in need of dog ownership preventative support and guidance.

Our expert team will help support you and your dog with practical advice and knowledge, all delivered in a welcoming, non-judgemental way.

Why have I been referred?

You will have been referred or advised through one of our referral partners (ie a police force or local authority) because of a low level, dog related offence or potential incident.

How long will the course take?

This online course will take around three hours, including a break.

How is it delivered?

In small groups and online as a live virtual course. You will need to have a good internet connection and access to either a PC, laptop, tablet or smart phone to take part.

How much does the course cost?

The course is non-refundable and costs £40. If you are on means tested benefits and able to provide proof then the course may be charged at a reduced cost. Any cost will need to be paid before you attend the course.

All profits made by this course will fund our charity’s goal of helping sick, injured and homeless pets and the people who love them.

When do I need to take the course?

Completion of a course is due within the time limit set for each individual case. This is usually no more than three months from the date of offence unless agreed otherwise.

When you attend the course

  • This will be an interactive, online course where you will be invited to take part in group work discussion, reflection and learning in a friendly, non-judgemental environment
  • The course will be delivered by a member of the Blue Cross team alongside a small group of attendees
  • You will need to show proof of identification when you attend the course
  • You will need to be present and engaged throughout the course to successfully complete it
