Dishevelled warehouse cat’s incredible transformation

A straggly stray cat, who spent months living in a warehouse, has been given a makeover and a new lease of life by Blue Cross.

Much of Dave's fur had to be removed because it was so matted

Dirty and dishevelled Dave arrived at our Victoria animal hospital in central London after the warehouse workers, who were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare, purchased a trap to catch him and take him to another charity vet service.

Amanda Rumball, London Welfare Officer, says: “Dave had to have a full shave as he was matted but he is the sweetest gent.

“Slowly, we started to get his face back to the white it once was!”

Dave, who is about five years old, had a further setback when he developed a dental abscess which required antibiotics and the removal of three broken canines.

Amanda adds: “Even though he was in pain, he was a typical stray and still wanted all his grub.

“He is one of those cats who is just beyond amazing. He has had a hard life being a stray but is so lovely that he has obviously been owned at some point in his past.”

Sadly, Dave has also been diagnosed with suspected early-stage kidney disease. But he is not currently in need of medication and is instead enjoying a tasty a prescription diet.

Dave, the cat, is now getting the TLC he needs

Dave is now getting lots of TLC in foster care, arranged by our Hertfordshire rehoming centre, while he searches for this second chance in life.

Sarah Miller, Animal Welfare Assistant at Hertfordshire, adds: “Dave is such a sweet natured boy. He loves the company of people and will always come over to say hello when anyone pops into his foster home chalet.

“We hope a lovely home comes along for him soon.”
