Why adopt a pet?

Adopting a pet is a bit decision. Rest assured, we'll work hard to find a pet that’s the right match for you and your lifestyle.

The benefits of a Blue Cross pet

When you adopt a rescue pet, you'll give a homeless animal the chance of a happy future – but there are other benefits too.

A full MOT

All animals that come to Blue Cross are fully assessed and are:

  • vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and neutered (please note, we don't neuter all species).
  • examined by a vet if applicable and treated if needed
  • given a tailor made training plan depending on their needs

Tailor made rehoming

We’ll work hard to find a pet that’s the right match for you and your lifestyle so that you have a happy future together.

Our tailor made rehoming looks at each case individually to help you find the right pet. We don’t have any fixed rules about what makes the perfect home because we know every pet and their needs are different.

Please look through our current pets waiting for new homes to find a pet you think is right for you. Click on the ‘Adopting me’ button on their page and an application form will appear. The information you enter on this form will help us to make sure that we find the right pet for you and your home.

Advice for life

When you take your new pet home, that’s not the end of the journey for us. We offer you ongoing advice when you need some support. You'll also find a pet advice section on our website which covers health, behaviour and care advice for different species.
