Face-to-face fundraising

One of the ways we raise funds for our vital work is through face-to-face fundraising – at private sites such as supermarkets or shopping centres or by knocking on doors.

Why we fundraise in this way

Face-to-face fundraising is proven to be one of the most effective ways for Blue Cross to recruit new supporters and to raise awareness about our work.

Our fundraisers

Blue Cross fundraisers wear tabards with the Blue Cross logo.  Each fundraiser will be wearing an ID badge – they will carry our registered charity details.  Our registered charity number is 224392.  Our Scottish registered charity number is SC040154.

As representatives of the charity, all our fundraisers are carefully selected and go through a rigorous recruitment process.  We also ensure they receive ongoing training, development and careful monitoring.  It is incredibly important to us that our fundraisers act as knowledgeable ambassadors for Blue Cross, as well as behaving professionally and courteously.

Blue Cross fundraisers are only provided with an identification badge after successfully completing training.

If a fundraiser is unable to answer any of your questions about the charity, they will refer you to our Supporter Care Team on 0300 790 9903.

Making your donation

Our fundraisers are not permitted to accept cash donations or cheques.  If you would like to make a cash donation online you can do so here or you can make a gift over the telephone by calling our Supporter Care Team on 0300 790 9903.  Donations can also be posted to us at Blue Cross, Shilton Road, Burford, Oxon, OX18 4PF.

We are very grateful for any regular contribution that you feel comfortable making. You can set up a regular gift for any amount of your choosing online at any time or by calling our Supporter Care Team on 0300 790 9903 (Monday - Friday 9am-5pm).  However, the minimum regular gift that our face-to-face fundraisers are able to set up is £5.00 per month.

Where our fundraisers work

Blue Cross is committed to closely monitoring our face-to-face fundraising campaigns to ensure our representatives adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice set out by the Fundraising Regulator. We are also members of the Institute of Fundraising.

Our door-to-door fundraisers work between 09.00 am and 9.00 pm, and visits can only be made outside these times if the appointment is agreed with the resident from a prior conversation.
We do not fundraise in legitimately created “no cold calling zones” and in line with best practice, ask all our fundraisers to observe clearly visible stickers requesting “no cold calling”.
We may well be fundraising in your area!  If you would like to check, then please call our Supporter Care Team.

If you have any questions, feedback or concerns about a Blue Cross fundraiser please call our Supporter Care Team on 0300 790 9903 or email [email protected].
