Hallow-Stream FAQs

Hallow-stream is a spooky spectacular fundraising event for gamers, streamers and content creators who want to help Blue Cross change the lives of pets and people in need.

Get creative and find ways to dedicate a stream to charity, it can be your usual content, or you can do something special with your friends and community to encourage them to make donations to your Tiltify fundraising page.

It could be a subathon style stream with each donation extending the time you’re live for, or you could use Crowd Control to let chat cause chaos in your game with each donation! There’s lots of ideas to help you get started here in our fundraising guide.

Registration opens here on 4 September and the event officially begins on 1 October and will run until 7 November.

Because it’s a scary time to be a pet in need, and it’s especially tough for black cats, who on average take 5 days longer to find loving new homes for, because sadly, many still think they bring bad luck!

Together, we won’t let this haunt them any longer and the money you raise will go towards helping them and all the other pets that need our care, whether it’s at our rehoming centres, animal hospitals or even our network of pet food banks that are there to help owners struggling to feed their pets during the cost of living crisis.

While the challenge is called Hallow-Stream, if you’d prefer to do your own thing and not stream it that’s completely fine.

Some other ways you could get involved would include playing games on your own or with friends and collecting a forfeit from each time your characters died or lost a race. Or you could host a board game night or special one shot Dungeons and Dragons campaign! Just instead of asking viewers to donate, you can ask friends and family to sponsor you. Get inventive and add incentives such as letting them choose a Halloween costume for you to wear for the day and we’re sure that you will be just as successful as anyone else taking part in the event.

No. The challenge is completely free to enter though there is an optional £20 entry fee if you’d like to order one of our physical Hallow-Stream fundraising kits.

There are no limits on what you can stream or play during this event. Afterall, as a creator, you’ll know your audience better than us so think what they would want to see and use this as a way to gain donations for the charity.

It could be that you carve a pumpkin live on stream, do a live music set or settle in with some scary games. You could even run a Dungeons and Dragons session or play some tabletop games if that’s your thing. It’s completely up to you.

We have a number of rewards available which can be unlocked by fundraising different amounts for the Blue Cross on your Tiltify fundraising campaign. These amounts exclude Gift Aid. The rewards available are:

  • £45 or more – A Hallow-Stream medal
  • £86 or more – A Hallow-Stream pin badge and medal
  • £190 or more – A Blue Cross desk pad, Hallow-Stream pin badge bundle and medal
  • £325 or more – A Blue Cross hooded blanket, desk pad, Hallow-Stream pin badge bundle and medal
  • £829 or more – If you’re one of the first 10 to hit this milestone, you’ll unlock the a choice of a standard EPIC, ICON or HERO chair from noblechairs, Blue Cross hooded blanket, desk pad, Hallow-Stream pin badge bundle and medal

Please note the chairs are being donated by noblechairs and will be sent directly from them to the first 10 to pass this milestone only.

To determine which rewards you have qualified for, we run a report after the end of the event and take your final fundraising total from your Tiltify campaign to see which bundle you have unlocked. The cut off time when your rewards are decided is at 11.59am (GMT) on 10 November 2023, so if you have any offline fundraising or would like to donate yourself to move up a level please ensure it’s done before this time.

You can read more about exactly what qualifies for the rewards by visiting our Terms and Conditions.

So that we can make sure as much of your hard earned sponsorship goes to supporting the charities goals of helping change pets lives, we will be ordering the rewards after the challenge finishes on 10 November 2023.

This helps us to make sure we aren’t ordering medals and pin badges that will just go to waste and we can focus on helping more pets. This does mean that as your rewards bundle will be made to order, it will take our suppliers 4-5 weeks to get everything produced and sent to us ready to fulfil your order. We’ll provide updates on the production to those who have qualified after the event ends, but we expect all orders should begin processing the week of 18 December. While we hope that everything will arrive before Christmas, this might not be possible so please bare with us and contact [email protected] for an update.

Should you be lucky enough to qualify for one of the chairs from noblechairs, this will be sent separately to your other rewards as it will come directly from noblechairs and OverclockersUK

There’s no time target for this event. You can stream for as little or as much time as you’d like while the event is live!

You can still take part in the event but we do ask that you get parental permission before doing so. This way they can support you throughout your challenge and make sure that you look after your health by taking regular breaks during your challenge. If any parents would like to know more about the event they can contact [email protected].

Tiltify is a fundraising platform similar to sites such as JustGiving, Virgin Money Giving and GivePenny. It allows users to collect donations over the internet safely and securely with the money being raised sent directly to Blue Cross. It’s the one we’re using for this event as it has lots of specialist features which make it a great tool for anyone who is gaming or livestreaming to raise money for charity.

We recommend using Tiltify for Hallow-Stream however if you prefer you may use other platforms. The only downside to this is you will not be automatically eligible to receive the fundraising rewards so if using one of these methods you must contact [email protected] and provide them with a link to your fundraiser along with your postal address so you can be found on our system and added to the reports which are sent to our fulfilment team before they process and post rewards.

When you register on Tiltify, there’s an optional fee of £20. If you decide to pay this, you’ll not only kick your fundraising off and be on your way to unlocking your first reward, we’ll also post you a limited fundraising kit full of tricks and treats!

The packs contain some information about the charity, the challenge and items which should help with your fundraiser.

Supplies of these packs are in limited supply so the option may be removed at any time.

The event is free to take part in and even without fundraising you can help to raise awareness about Blue Cross and the work we do.

Of course, if you can fundraise, every donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated as we couldn’t help pets in need without donations and support from people like you. If you can’t get sponsored but still want to help, you can always donate to your own fundraising page to make a difference and you might even unlock some of our rewards as a little thank you for your kindness.

When you sign up with our partners at Tiltify, you’ll create a fundraising campaign that will let you easily collect sponsorship that is then sent directly to Blue Cross to help support our work with pets in need.

To help you get donations, we’ve put together a fundraising guide full of inspiration to get you started.

Our top tips though are to share your fundraising page with friends, family and followers as much as possible, taking the time to let them know how donations will make a difference and what it would mean to you and the charity. Don’t be afraid to send a short message with a link out in a message or WhatsApp group!

We also recommend taking the time to use some of Tiltify’s extra features like polls and rewards to make your fundraiser interactive. Some of the ideas that we’ve seen work really well are often the simple ones too, eating a sour sweet or food you don’t like when someone donates a certain amount or naming a character after everyone who donates. You can get as creative as you want and share your ideas with teammates in our Discord

First of all, visit Tiltify and then follow the steps in this video tutorial to register and take advantage of all the features available!

Publishing your Tiltify fundraising page is another way of saying you’re happy with how you’ve set things up and you’re ready to share it with the world! Until it’s done, your page isn’t public which means no one can donate to you so you’ll want to make sure you get it done as soon as possible after signing up! It takes less than 5 minutes and you can follow this tutorial video.

While you can still make changes to your page after you publish it, you won’t be able to reduce your fundraising goal or change the name and URL for your page past this point!

Got any other questions?

You can either join us on Discord here or you can email [email protected]  and we’ll be more than happy to help out.
