Meet our Trustees: Jeremy Stewart

Trustee Jeremy Stewart and horse Billy

Jeremy has worked as a veterinary surgeon for the last 34 years. Working in charity practice as well as in private first opinion practice. He has focused on small animal practices as a GP Vet, with a bias towards diagnostic imaging and surgery. He strongly believes that his role as a veterinary surgeon is to enhance and support the people/pet bond.

Jeremy qualified from The Royal Veterinary College, London University, in 1991. He spent his first nine years as a vet working for the RSPCA in one of their busy London hospitals. In 2000 he joined a large private practice, the Goddard Veterinary Group (“GVG”), and was the Head Vet and Head of Region in West London, at one of their three hospitals. For six years, from 2017, he joined the Board of Directors, taking on the role of Director of Personnel and Development. GVG was a practice comprising of three emergency hospitals and 43 branches within the Greater London Area, employing around 500 staff. At GVG, with his fellow directors, they grew the business and prepared it for sale. He left this role 18 months after the business was sold.  Jeremy now works part time as a locum vet in and around Surrey.

Jeremy has always been keen to provide pro-bono advice and support (both clinical and business) in the charity sector, and for the last ten years has loved being a Trustee at the Blue Cross.

He lives in Surrey with his wife and three children and their ten-year-old Dalmatian, Bertie, their two rescue cats, Thing 1 and Thing 2, and their four horses, Storm, Marco, Brockie and Henrietta.
