Do More for Scotland’s Animals, says Blue Cross

Blue Cross helped bring MSPs together last night (Thursday 29 September) to debate how the lives of animals in Scotland can be improved in the next five years.

As part of the More for Scotland’s Animals coalition, Blue Cross hosted the event which brought together cross-party members to discuss a range of issues including a potential ban on electric shock collars, the continued lack of resourcing of local authorities to enforce animal welfare policy, and the urgent need to update pet vending laws and address puppy farming.

Anna Wade, Blue Cross Public Affairs Officer, said: “We are really encouraged by the widespread support for improving animal welfare from MSPs who attended the debate.

"Key laws are up for review in the next five years, and if opportunities are taken, Scotland could play a leading role in animal welfare in the UK.”

Other members of the More for Scotland’s Animals coalition are Cats Protection, League Against Cruel Sports Scotland, OneKind and PDSA.
