Generous donations from The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust will help needy horses for years to come

Three foals and a horse enjoy grazing in a field

Blue Cross is hugely grateful to have received a generous donation of £40,000 from the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust to help horses in need of expert care.

This generous donation will play a huge part in enabling us to care for, treat and rehabilitate many needy horses and ponies while we search for loving new homes for them.

The funds were raised at the late Sir Peter’s 20th annual awards lunch, held at the London Dorchester Hotel in November 2016, and through sales of the trust’s specially commissioned equine-themed Christmas cards, books and prints.

Along with five fellow beneficiaries, Blue Cross has received an equal share of a staggering £4.5million since the trust was established 21 years ago and we remain extremely grateful for this outstanding support.

The trust hopes to raise even more donations for horses that need help to recover from terrible suffering this year, thanks to new fundraising drive the Voice Of Racing Project. Events will take place at racecourses across the UK and Ireland on 30 June where fans will come together and pledge donations.

Funds raised through the charitable push will be split between three charities; The Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust and the UK and Irish Injured Jockeys Funds. The day is supported by the At The Races TV channel, and publications Racing Post and The Irish Field, with viewers and readers encouraged to donate.
