Terms and Conditions

  • The competition is open from Thursday 1 May 2025 and closes on Friday 30 May 2025
  • Blue Cross reserves the right to change the dates of the competition
  • The competition is not open to employees or volunteers of Blue Cross, or to members of their families
  • By filling in the submission form and registering your interest in the Paws to Draw competition, you are confirming that you are over the age of 18
  • If you are under 18 and wish to participate in the competition you must ensure that a parent, guardian, or legally responsible adult registers for the competition on your behalf
  • For the attention of parents/guardians/legally responsible adults:
    • When submitting your child/minor’s drawing to us, YOU will be required to share their first name and age alongside their drawing in order to facilitate their entry into the competition. In doing so, you grant us permission to share their first name and age alongside their drawing if they are selected as a winner.
    • If you have any questions, please refer to our FAQs sheet in the first instance. If this does not provide an answer, please contact us.
  • Sending in an entry to the competition means that you accept these Terms and Conditions and will adhere to the rules and instructions associated with the competition
  • Paws to Draw is a drawing competition designed to raise awareness of pet homelessness in the UK. Blue Cross are compassionate, courageous and inclusive. We want everyone to feel they can enter, no matter their age or skill level. Your drawing could make a difference.
  • For more information on how this competition will be judged, please read our FAQs. The judging panel’s decision is final.
  • By entering your drawing into this competition, you confirm that you are the person who drew the picture and own the copyright. If you are entering on behalf of someone under the age of 18, you confirm that they are the person who drew the picture and own the copyright.
  • Any entries submitted via social media will not be accepted – this includes commenting with an image on a Blue Cross social media post or tagging us in a story or main feed post. To ensure your entry is valid please adhere to the instructions and requirements associated with the competition.
  • By submitting an entry to the Paws to Draw competition, participants grant Blue Cross a perpetual licence to display the submitted artwork in any form, including but not limited to promotional materials, social media, websites, printed publications, and merchandise.
  • If the winning entrant is under the age of 18, Blue Cross will publish the artist’s first name and age in connection with their artwork and this competition across the channels mentioned in the above bullet point. This only applies to entrants who are selected as competition winners.
  • We will only publish the seven regional winning pieces of artwork (including the overall winning drawing) in connection with the Paws to Draw competition. Including but not limited to, use on our website, social media channels and in local or national press publications. We do not seek or retain rights for lifetime use or for any unrelated future purposes.
  • Winners will be selected from the following regions of the UK: North England, South England, The Midlands, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and The Channel Islands
  • Please note this competition is only open to residents living in the above UK regions
  • When sending in an entry, you must also provide the first name and age of the person who created the drawing and state which region from the above list the entry is from. You must also include the name of the pet that has been drawn. 
  • A winner will be selected from each of the above regions, giving a total of seven regional winners. One of these winners will be selected as the overall competition winner.
  • All seven regional winners will have their drawings displayed via our website and social media channels in July 2025
  • The prize for the overall competition winner is that their drawing will be displayed in a national UK press title
  • All seven regional winners (including the overall competition winner) will be notified by Friday 20 June 2025. They will be contacted by Blue Cross via the email address they provided on registration.
    • If no response is received to this email within three working days of sending, the prize will be void and a new winner will be selected.
  • We will only accept one drawing of one pet, per entrant. Joint submissions (where two or more people create the drawing) are not allowed.
    • Should you have multiple people (children) from the same household that would like to enter, please ensure ALL entries (drawings) are submitted in one email all together.
  • To ensure your entry is valid and formally accepted, it must meet the following requirements:
    • Be drawn on an A4 piece of paper
    • Drawing must be of one pet displayed on one of these pages (dog, cat, horse, smalls)
    • A clear, high-quality photo of the drawing must be taken from above (a bird’s eye view). Please ensure the whole drawing is visible and is not cropped in any way.
    • The photo must be in a .jpeg image file format
    • The jpeg image should be no larger than 500KB
    • If you are under 18, you must have obtained permission to enter from your parent/guardian/legally responsible adult
    • Be sent to us using the same email address you used to complete the submission form
  • Failure to follow these requirements means your entry will be void and will not count
  • Following the end of the competition we will delete any data and artwork relating to the first name and age of any minor who has been entered into Paws to Draw and was not selected as a winner by Friday 29 August 2025
  • Blue Cross may cancel this competition at any time
  • Blue Cross respects your privacy and will keep your information safe and secure and will only use it in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will not sell, rent, or share your personal data with other organisations for their marketing purposes. We may use your data for profiling purposes to make future communications more relevant to you. To see more about how we will use your information visit bluecross.org.uk/privacy.
  • Blue Cross accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the competition or accepting the prize.
  • Blue Cross further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to you or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the competition
  • Entries that fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions and requirements will be disqualified
