Pet Bereavement Support Service named Animal Charity Team of the Year

We’re delighted to announce that our Blue Cross Pet Bereavement Support Service Team has been named Animal Charity Team of the Year.

The team was recognised for their outstanding work helping members of the public cope with the devastating grief that comes with losing a pet, as well as training animal professionals to provide support, at the Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes Animal Charity Awards.

Tracie McGrory, Pet Bereavement Support Service Manager, said: “This is such a huge achievement and testament to our wonderful team, both paid and voluntary, who make our service what it is. 

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of them for giving grieving pet owners emotional support every single day. Losing a pet is extremely distressing, and the compassion and understanding shown by our team makes a real difference to people’s lives.”

Joanne Tarling, PBSS Administrative Assistant, and Diane James, PBSS Training Officer, collected the award on behalf of the whole team at the ceremony in April.

This is the fourth year in a row that Blue Cross has won a prestigious Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Award. Previously, Jenna Martyn, Theresa Lovegrove and Ryan Neile each won Charity Employee of the Year in 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

We’d like to congratulate our fellow finalists in the category, CHAPS and Nuzzlets, who both do an excellent job of caring for animals in their communities.
