Steps for Pets FAQs

What is Steps for Pets?

Steps for Pets is our walking challenge to raise money for sick, injured and homeless pets and the people who love them. We’re setting the challenge to walk 100km between 1 June and 30 June 2026. That’s 4,700 steps a day to help feed 100 pets!

Register your interest

Registrations are now open and the event officially begins on 1 June 2026 and will run until 30 June 2026.

No, the challenge is completely free to enter. There is an optional £20 registration fee on Tiltify, where we will send you a Steps for Pets t-shirt for you to complete the challenge in.

Please note all registration orders must be complete by 20 May 2026 to guarantee you get a t-shirt in time for the beginning of the event. Any registrations made after that date will receive t-shirts midway through or possibly after the event.

Walk, skip, jump, run, get active across your local area! You can facilitate walks with friends, take a lunch break stroll with coworkers, and even enlist the help of your pets. For any canine paw-ticipants: please only take your dogs out if the weather is cool enough for them to walk safely. For further information of dog walking during the summer please look at our advice

Absolutely! There are amazing physical prizes you can unlock as you fundraise. As you hit each milestone, you’ll raise from a bronze, silver, gold, and finally platinum reward! Each milestone reflects the cost of feeding 100 pets of varying species for one day:

  • £96 - Bronze pin badge (feed 100 cats for a day)
  • £143 - Silver pin badge (feed 100 rabbits for a day)
  • £205 - Gold pin badge (feed 100 dogs for a day)
  • £500 - Gold pin badge and custom Blue Cross water bottle (feed 100 horses for a day)

There’s no time target for this event, only the goal of raising funds while walking 100km to feed 100 pets!

Absolutely! It won’t quite be the summer holidays, but we encourage participants of all ages to get involved and active. Under 18s will need parental permission before setting up a Tiltify page. If any parents would like to know more about the event they can contact [email protected].

Tiltify is a fundraising platform similar to sites such as JustGiving or Enthuse. It allows users to collect donations over the internet safely and securely with the money being raised sent directly to Blue Cross. All Blue Cross virtual events are run through Tiltify, for cohesion.

We recommend using Tiltify for Steps for Pets, however if you prefer you may use other platforms. The only downside to this is you will not be automatically eligible to receive the fundraising rewards. If using one of these methods, you must contact [email protected] and provide them with a link to your fundraiser along with your postal address, so you can be found on our system and added to the reports which are sent to our fulfilment team before they process and post rewards.

The event is free to take part in and even without fundraising you can help to raise awareness about Blue Cross and the work we do by taking part in the challenge and encouraging others to fundraise too.

Of course, if you can fundraise, every donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated as we couldn’t help pets in need without donations and support from people like you. If you don't get sponsored but still want to help, you can always donate to your own fundraising page to make a difference and you might even unlock some of our rewards as a little thank you for your kindness.

Registrations are now open and the event officially begins on 1 June 2026 and will run until 30 June 2026. To make sure you’re the first to hear all about it, join our Facebook group today.
