Abandoned kitten's road to recovery

Sweet young cat Cloud is on the road to recovery after being abandoned in an alleyway at less than six months old.

Left in a single carrier along with three other cats, thankfully the pets were found by a caring member of the public and brought to Blue Cross animal hospital in Grimsby.

Poor little tabby and white kitten Cloud wasn’t in the best of health though.

The young cat was suffering with an ulcerated tongue – which our vets suspected could be down to a feline illness called calicivirus.

Separating Cloud from the other cats, the Blue Cross vet team kept a close eye on him as he was given antibiotics to help him get better.

The little tabby was also given pain relief as he recovered from the sore ulcers.

With lots of care and attention, Cloud began to get better and was soon able to have his routine vaccinations that would help prevent a similar illness in the future.

Flea and worming treatments were also a priority, along with neutering Cloud ready for his new life.

After 18 days being cared for in our Grimsby hospital, it was clear Cloud was beginning to enjoy kitten life again.

The playful and inquisitive youngster was well enough to move to a foster home, where he could grow in confidence, before heading to our Thirsk rehoming centre.

The three cats who arrived with Cloud – called Rain, Blizzard and Flash – have all found their own forever homes after their ordeal.

And after spending two months being cared for by Blue Cross, Cloud was sharing his new-found energy with a loving home too.
