Lonely chinchilla pair's fresh start

When Raichu and Milo’s family moved, the landlord of the new property would not let the beloved pets stay in the house.

Sadly, they had to be kept in the garage of the property which meant these affectionate chinchillas were cold and missing out on the human company they had grown up used to.

Wanting the best for Raichu and Milo, their family asked Blue Cross to help them find a home without these sad restrictions.

The two chinchillas had originally shared a close bond but, after a falling out, had needed to be separated.
During the time at our Burford rehoming centre in Oxfordshire, they were showered with lots of love.

Katie Stiles, Animal Welfare Assistant, says: Milo is very outgoing and likes to hold your hand. Raichu is more shy but slowly came out of his shell.”

As chinchillas are social creatures who need the company of their own kind to be happy, so both were adopted by families who already had chinchillas.

Before leaving our care, Raichu and Milo were neutered.
