Stray days over for loveable lurcher

Gentle giant Bruce loves nothing more than laidback walks and playing with his favourite toys.

So it’s mystery how he ended up as a stray in a local dogs' home.

The lovable lurcher had already spent more than two months in the care of charity kennels before coming to Blue Cross for help to find his forever home.

Underweight and needing vet and dental care, seven-year-old Bruce was looking for a fresh start.

The team at Blue Cross Bromsgrove rehoming centre in the West Midlands immediately fell in love with the gorgeous boy.

Caroline Oram, Adoptions Coordinator at Blue Cross Bromsgrove, explains: “Bruce has done really well considering he’s been in kennels all that time.

“He’s been so easy, as he’s very laid back. Bruce is so gentle, he’s a real gentle giant.”

First entering charity kennels weighing less than 25kg, Bruce was helped to return to a healthy weight before coming to Blue Cross.

Our team ensured the black lurcher got all the vet care he needed, including flea and worming treatments, as well as neutering to prepare him for a new home.

Having been a stray previously, dental care was next on the list and Bruce’s teeth got a full scale and polish while one of his lower incisors needed to be removed.

Nothing dented Bruce’s positive disposition though, and he made the most of his time at Blue Cross with plenty of playtime in the paddock and walks with his favourite team members.

After around a month in Blue Cross care, Bruce got the happy ending all pets deserve and was rehomed with a lurcher-loving new owner in Northampton
