Animal hospital consultation

Here’s what to expect when you bring your sick or injured pet to one of our animal hospitals for a consultation.

Booking a consultation

If your pet is sick or injured, give us a call. We’ll ask for a description of your pet’s key symptoms and decide what kind of consultation is best for you. When booking your appointment, please be ready to pay the small consultation fee.

We offer face-to-face consultations at our hospitals or remote consultations over the phone.

Tip

We understand that travelling to the hospital can sometimes be stressful for pets. If you’ve got a consultation booked and you're worried about how your pet might cope with the journey, please don’t hesitate to call us. If it’s suitable for your pet and their condition, we may be able to arrange a remote consultation to make things a little easier.

During your consultation

When you have your consultation with one of our vets or nurses, we aim to make you feel informed and supported every step of the way. We will:

  • take time to understand your pet’s health history as well as their current symptoms
  • perhaps suggest some tests or scans to confirm a diagnosis
  • guide you through treatment options, whether medication, surgery or something else
  • answer all your questions, particularly about estimated treatment costs

Remote consultation guide

Having your consultation over the phone or on a video call is like bringing our vet team to your home.

  • Save time and costs of travel to the hospital.
  • Reduce stress for you and your pet.
  • Keep you and your pet safe in extreme weather conditions.

If we can’t provide the necessary treatment during the remote consultation – we’ll refer you for a hospital consultation (you won’t be charged an additional consultation fee for this).

Please send us photos and/or short videos of your pet. Either contact us via PetsApp or email your hospital – remembering to include in the email subject line your surname, pet’s name, and postcode:

You will receive a call from us close to your appointment time. Please allow up to 60 minutes either side.

If we miss you, we’ll try again. After that, you’ll need to rebook.
