Here when you feel like there's nowhere to turn
As the cost of living soars, you may be finding it harder than ever to care for your pets, from hamsters to horses. We're here to support you.
No pet should have to go hungry. No one should have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets. Families shouldn't have to make the heart-breaking decision to part with their beloved companions or sacrifice vital vet care – all because of the cost of living crisis.
Last year we launched our network of pet food banks and offered over 90,000 vet appointments at our animal hospitals. Pets are part of the family, and we're here to make sure families stay together, wherever possible.
Many are worried about the costs of pet care
More than 60% of people have seen an increase in pet bills
Over 50% have changed their pet’s food recently to a lower cost option
40% are anxious about the costs of their pet and cost of living pressures

What if I need to give up my pet?
We know that sometimes people’s circumstances change and they can no longer look after their pet. At Blue Cross we never judge anyone for making the responsible decision to give up their animal and we’ll do what we can to help.

Advice on cutting costs
When it comes to our pet's care, we always want to do what's best for them. Our vets have some great advice on what you can save money on, and what's worth investing in.
How you can help
We know that more and more people are using food banks. And, at our rehoming centres, we’ve seen a real uptick in people coming to us because they’re struggling. That's why we need your support – so we can help even more pets and people this year.
We’re so grateful for any support you can give. Whether that’s with a gift, volunteering with your precious time or donating your spare pet food. Please help us to keep more families together this year.
