Using AI in your application

We understand some people use AI tools when preparing applications. That's fine - as long as you use them the right way!

You can use AI to:

  • Help you organise and refine your ideas.
  • Research public information about Blue Cross and the wider animal welfare sector.
  • Learn about trends in the industry that you can connect to your own experiences.
  • Check spelling, grammar and clarity in your application.

Examples of effective use:

  • Asking AI to help you structure your examples using the STAR method, based on your own real-life experience.
  • Summarising public information about Blue Cross’ services or campaigns so you can think about how they inspire or relate to you.
  • Identifying the key skills and behaviours mentioned in the job advert, then reflecting on how you’ve demonstrated them in the past.
  • Reviewing your answers for clarity and conciseness while keeping the meaning and examples entirely your own.

  • Asking AI to write your application or personal statement from scratch.
  • Using AI to invent experience, qualifications, or achievements.
  • Submitting content that is not an honest reflection of your own skills and experience.

You can use AI to:

  • Create mock interview questions based on the job description.
  • Practise answering behaviour-based questions.
  • Research public information about Blue Cross and the animal welfare sector.
  • Get tips on communication techniques or body language.

Examples of effective use:

  • Asking AI to generate practice questions so you can rehearse your answers.
  • Using AI to help you reflect on past experiences and prepare examples to share.
  • Reviewing feedback from a mock interview session to refine your delivery.

  • Using AI to generate responses during a live interview or assessment.
  • Feeding real-time interview questions into AI to produce your answers.
  • Presenting AI-generated examples or stories as your own.

We want the real you - your experience, your skills, your story. If AI is misused, we may have to withdraw your application.
