Get involved in the Big Help Out
See our Big Help Out volunteering roles this May.
This year, the Big Help Out are encouraging people to volunteer to coincide with the King’s coronation on Monday 8 May.
Like many other charities, we rely on dedicated volunteers to help sick, injured and homeless pets and horses. If you can spare some time on the coronation bank holiday weekend, take a look at three new volunteering roles which can be done easily at home or locally.
It’s a great opportunity to get to know Blue Cross, find out more about our work and help vulnerable pets.
Big Help Out volunteering roles
Here’s a list of some of our new roles to coincide with the Big Help Out – the biggest volunteering event of the year.
Big Help Out Pet Food Bank Hero
In these tough times, help us to ensure that no pet goes hungry and they stay where they belong – with their loving families. Collect donations of pet food, bedding and treats to help pets and their people in your community.
Big Help Out Charity Shop Champion
Using the bank holiday to have a clear out? Your unwanted items can make a difference to pets and people in your community. Why not reach out to your family, friends and neighbours and gather your donations for Blue Cross.
Big Help Out Cat Toy Maker
If you like cats and being creative then this is for you! Spend a bit of time making toys to keep the cats and kittens in our care busy and having fun. This is a great thing to do as a family too so sign up now to get going.

What will happen after I sign up?
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll find further information on the role and what to do in our volunteering system, Assemble. We’ll be in touch later in May to see if you might be interested in volunteering in other ways.
