Our vet service prices
Your pet's welfare is our focus, not high vet bills. We charge a small fee for consultations. This enables us to discount vet prices for life-saving treatments.
How much will I pay?
Our prices vary depending on which means-tested benefits you receive. Once you register with us, we’ll let you know if you qualify for Band A or Band B prices. Please remember we always charge a small consultation fee for our services.
Vet services offered at Band A prices are often fully subsidised. Vet services offered at Band B prices are partially subsidised. In both cases, we ask that you make an additional charitable contribution, to ensure Blue Cross is able to continue to provide vet services. We’ll give you an idea of how much to contribute based on the treatment cost for your pet.
Our prices are transparent and straightforward so you can make informed decisions about spending.

Frequently asked questions
Band A prices
You can register two pets with us. If you register any more pets with us than that, their treatment will be charged at Band B prices.
Band B prices
You can register all your pets with us, so long as they live with you.
We want to help you and your pet. In the consultation our vets and nurses will discuss the range of treatments you can afford. There may be more options available than you realise.
Make sure you’re not missing out on any benefits, such as income support or pension credit. For help, contact Citizens Advice or Age UK
You have to pay for all operations and imaging in advance. If you’ve booked an appointment but can’t pay, we’ll reschedule the visit as long as it’s safe for your pet. If the need for treatment is urgent, we might be able to offer you a short-term direct debit payment plan.
If you don’t pay your bill, then we’ll have to stop treating your pet. If your pet were facing a life-threatening emergency, we would stabilise them and transfer them to a private vet.
