Hello, I'm Raisin
I'm a 14-year-old Chinchilla from Sheffield rehoming, advice and behaviour unit and I'm looking for my forever home. Please read my profile below to find out more.
About me
Raisin is a gentle and friendly girl who enjoys the company of people and loves greeting familiar faces with happy chirps and chatter. Although she's not particularly fond of being handled, she enjoys fuss from people she trusts and has a sweet nature that shines once she feels comfortable. She can be a little wary of sudden touches, so she would appreciate a patient family who will let her build confidence at her own pace.
Having previously lived with another female chinchilla and more recently enjoyed interacting with a neighbouring male through cage bars, Raisin would love a home where she can be bonded with a companion again. She is looking for a neutered male or another female chinchilla to share her days with, as chinchillas thrive with the company of their own kind.
Like all chinchillas, Raisin is active, agile and loves to explore. Her new home will need to provide plenty of opportunities for climbing, jumping and foraging, with lots of ledges, hides and enrichment to keep her busy. She particularly enjoys wildflower salads and gnawing on apple sticks. Unlimited access to good-quality hay and regular dust baths will help keep her happy and healthy.
Raisin could live with children of primary school age and above, provided any interactions are supervised and respectful of her preference not to be handled too much.
Her foster carer says: "Raisin is a lovely girl who enjoys being around people she knows and always makes the sweetest little noises when she's pleased to see you. Watching her forage through her favourite leaves and nibble on apple sticks is a real delight. She would love a home where she can enjoy companionship again and spend her days doing all the things chinchillas do best."
