Indoor cat finally gets to explore

Lovely Alora had never been outside when she arrived at Blue Cross as a one-year-old.

Rescued from a home which had a number of cats, Alora needed plenty of affection to grow her confidence.

A historic leg injury meant our team needed to keep a close eye on the adventurous black and white cat as she explored her new surroundings at Blue Cross Southampton.

To be on the safe side, our vet took X-rays to make sure Alora didn’t have any serious underlying issues in her hind legs.

Thankfully, Alora was given the all clear, meaning she was free to run, play and jump to her heart’s content.

Regular vet checks made sure Alora’s leg was fully healed – and the young cat was soon ready for a new adventure with a loving home.

Alora’s affectionate nature easily won over the team at our Southampton rehoming centre, where she was given plenty of love and attention.

She was also given routine vaccinations, flea, and worming treatments during the two months of her stay to make sure she stayed healthy.

It was clear Alora was desperate for attention – she’d been through quite an ordeal to start her journey to a new life.

“Once Alora got to know you, she would purr whenever she saw you and happily have lots of fuss,” says Jo Macdonald, Pet Welfare Assistant at Blue Cross Southampton.

“As a bit of a lap cat, Alora would happily sit there all day, or at least until someone could play with her. She loves playing with a rod toy and never seems to get bored of these.”

Alora’s friendly nature meant it didn’t take long for her to catch the eye of a local cat lover, and she moved to a loving new home in Dorset after 50 days with Blue Cross.
