Stray dog Bunny got her name due to her love of cuddles, so she must be struggling to understand why she’s been waiting nearly nine months to find an owner to snuggle up with.
The three-year-old staffie cross was found wandering the streets last autumn, underweight and suffering from a chronic skin condition which must have been causing her lots of discomfort.
But despite her terrible past, from the minute she arrived at our Tiverton rehoming centre she proved herself to be a hugely affectionate girl, so much so that our team gave her a name which was short for “snuggle bunny”.
Thanks to Blue Cross, she’s now fighting fit and her skin problems – caused by allergies – are well under control.
But her past health issues sadly seem to be putting off potential owners and she is now one of our longest standing residents.
Lauren Chilton, Animal Welfare Assistant at Tiverton, said: “I think that we are largely struggling to find a home for Bunny as she is a staffie mix and has a chronic skin condition caused by allergies – but this is really easily managed with a special diet and medicated shampoo baths.
“Simple things like using a soft detergent for bedding and changing it regularly, ensuring she sticks to her diet and making sure you vacuum regularly to clear dust mites can all help keep skin allergies at bay.”
Lauren added: “She is full of character and loves to be with people. She enjoys her walks and then lounging across your lap when she comes home! She is looking to be the only pet in the home but could live with school age children pending introductions at the centre.”
