- Worm and flea treatment
- Advice for pet owners
Am I eligible?
Low cost, Blue Cross vet care is for pets, and pet owners, who are most in need. So to be eligible, you’ll need to receive one of the following means-tested benefits:
- pension credit
- housing benefit
- income support
- working tax credit or child tax credit
- council tax benefit (not 25 per cent single person discount)
- income-based jobseeker’s allowance
- income based employment and support allowance
- universal credit
You’ll also need to register with the clinic and live within one of the following postcodes:
NP4, NP10, NP18, NP19, NP20 or NP44
How many pets can I register?
New clients can register -one pet including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and small birds such as budgies. Unfortunately, you can’t register more than –one even if you have more pets. That’s because we want to help as many people and their pets as we can.
If you already have two pets registered with us we’ll continue to treat them but, when you no longer have that pet, you won’t be able to register a new one in their place.
What will it cost?
When you register, you’ll pay an annual registration fee of £22 for each pet. This will cover the cost of annual vaccinations*, a health check, microchipping and any treatment needed if your pet becomes sick or injured. There are also reduced-cost preventative treatments and affordable charges for out-of-hours services, so your pet always has access to the help it needs.
Because we’re a charity, and we rely on the generosity of supporters to keep going, we do ask that you make a contribution towards your pet’s care every time you visit the clinic.
*Primary and booster vaccinations only, kennel cough is not included.
